12 Year Old Female – AIS with a Right Thoracic Curve

Patient
This 12 year old girl, diagnosed with AIS with a right thoracic curve, presented at my
clinic for treatment in 2017. Initial radiographs showed a cobb angle of 31 degrees.
Treatment
One of the first to be fitted with a Gensingen brace in the UK, by me, in 2017, this
patient wore a brace for 3 years full time, and weaned from it at age 16.
Outcome
Post treatment radiographs showed her cobb angle had reduced to 21 degrees. Additionally, follow-up radiographs, taken 4 years post brace-weaning, showed the curve to be stable and the alignment of the ribcage and vertebrae to be balanced.
