Rosie’s Story

Female 13 Years Old

Left: Pre treatment Left-Middle: In brace Right-Middle: Post brace Right: Final brace to control lumbar curve

Patient

This 13-year-old girl developed a right thoracic curve during her early adolescent growth spurt. Her mother first noticed changes in posture, including uneven shoulders and waist, and a visible right rib hump. Her initial Cobb angle was 37°, with a left pelvic shift.

Treatment

Rosie was fitted with a custom Gensingen Brace soon after her initial consultation. An in-brace x-ray showed an over-correction to -12°, indicating excellent brace effect.

Outcome

Her first out-of-brace x-ray, taken during a routine NHS review, showed a significant reduction in Cobb angle. Her curve pattern had also changed, and a new brace was fitted to optimise correction across both thoracic and lumbar regions. Her posture is now symmetrical, and she continues to progress well toward long-term stability.
