At Braced for Scoliosis, the mission has always been clear – ensuring more young people with scoliosis have access to expert care, no matter where they live. That vision has now taken a significant step forward, as Sally has successfully trained two experienced orthotists to provide Gensingen bracing in their own clinics.
Lucy Best (Hampshire Orthotics, Romsey) and Andrew Hardman (Let’s Go Physio!, Nelson) recently completed The Schroth Best Practice Programme, a rigorous course providing 40 hours of theoretical and practical instruction in the methods of Best Practice Bracing of Scoliosis and Other Spinal Deformities. Now equipped with this specialist training, they can assess, fit, and create highly personalised Gensingen braces, expanding access to this important scoliosis treatment across the UK.
As a Schroth Best Practice Academy board member, Sally has been eager to use this role to enhance the accessibility of training, clinical management and provision of the Gensingen Braces in the UK. Training Lucy and Andrew is a great example of this in action – helping more children and families find expert scoliosis care closer to home.
Strengthening the Network of Scoliosis Specialists
By building this network, Braced for Scoliosis is making it easier for adolescents to receive the bracing treatment they need, with experienced orthotists who understand both the technical and emotional aspects of scoliosis management.
This collaboration is just the beginning of a wider effort to make scoliosis bracing more accessible across the UK. As more specialists come together with the same goal, young people facing scoliosis can benefit from expert treatment, improved outcomes and greater support – wherever they are.
