Scoliosis Doesn’t Need to Hold You Back

When a family receives a diagnosis of scoliosis it can be a very overwhelming time, particularly if major surgery is discussed early on and there appears to be limited options for alternative treatment.

Long term outcomes for scoliosis patients who are managed surgically or conservatively are limited. However, we know that there are many healthy people who choose not to have surgery and manage their scoliosis in adulthood without pain and without impacting their quality of life.

During adolescent, with effective conservative management  we can reduce the severity of scoliosis, its symptoms and physical appearance so you can live actively and completely avoid surgery. Even world-class athletes are thriving with scoliosis – just look at Usain Bolt.

He has a scoliosis of over 40 degrees with a leg length discrepancy and still went on to become an Olympic gold medallist and one of the fastest men in history. He focused on keeping his core and back strong and adjusted his stride to accommodate his condition. Bolt’s story proves that scoliosis doesn’t have to limit your potential.

With the right support, treatment, and mindset, scoliosis will not limit your potential.

We help young people manage their scoliosis, empowering them to stay active and strong without needing surgery. We assess, advise and provide the best treatment option for your child, whether it be a corrective Gensingen brace or Schroth physiotherapy programme, or a combination of both. We have helped many adolescents continue to achieve goals and we will help you with a route forward which is manageable for you, limiting the impact of this diagnosis on your mental health.
