Sally recently had the chance to travel to Bucharest, Romania, with her mentor, Dr. Hans-Rudolf Weiss, a leading expert in scoliosis treatment. Dr. Weiss, orthopaedic consultant and designer of the Gensingen brace, joined Sally and fellow orthotist and Senior Schroth instructor Maksym Boroskov to share their knowledge and help patients in Romania.
During their four-day visit, Sally and Dr. Weiss teamed up with Marina Popescu’s Schroth Academy clinic to run a Gensingen brace course. They spent the time fitting and adjusting braces for adolescents with scoliosis, making sure each patient received the best possible care.
This experience was a great refresher for Sally, and she is now a qualified brace instructor for the UK. She was also welcomed as a board member of the Schroth Academy.
Marina Popescu expressed her appreciation for the visit, highlighting the positive impact of Dr. Weiss’s expertise on scoliosis patients in Romania. The course was both educational and practical, showing the importance of global cooperation in improving scoliosis care. With Sally’s new certification and ongoing support from experts like Dr. Weiss, the future of scoliosis treatment in the UK is looking brighter and will hopefully become a more accessible treatment option.
